Ana Diaz Brito is a woman that has a degree in Education and with a major in Pre-School from the Metropolitan University. She also did a postgraduate degree in Management of Educational Institutions and is currently one of the people in charge of directing the scholarship program Educa 20/20 offered at the Andres Bello Catholic University (UCAB).
Educa 20/20 is an initiative aimed at training teachers in all the specialties offered by the UCAB’s Education degree. The first cohort benefited from this program is currently studying in the university. They began in March of this year. Ana points out that all this procedure has been long and fruitful.
The first cohort began in March, but the process began approximately 4 months before with the stage of interviews with parents and young people who decided to come to the university to be trained as educators. This project has had quite some time in the making, and it has to do with the preparation through interviews, social study, the new entry diagnostic test, and all the vocational study that was conducted with the presence of the coordinators of the various mentions.
Among the beneficiaries of this program, 36 students belong to the UCAB campus in Guayana and 103 are from the main UCAB campus in Montalbán, Caracas.
In addition to tuition exemption, which ranges from 80% to 100% of the total amount, students also receive other benefits. Depending on the case, this can range from meals to a contribution to their student residence rent, especially for those who come from other cities. These benefits are maintained during the 4 years of the career.
As for the message and the contribution for scholarships that is sought with this program, Ana comments:
Whoever does not bet on education in Venezuela does not contribute to the generation of competent professionals, because if we train better educators, we will definitely have better experts in other areas. Education is the space gained for a freer, more democratic and achievement-oriented Venezuela, and the Educa 20/20 program is the ideal one to achieve that goal.
