Luis Gabriel Rosales Ugas is a graduate from the Social Communication School, mayor in Audiovisual Arts, from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. He studied from 2010 to 2015 and graduated in 2016. He is currently 25 years old and works as a producer in CINESA, an important producing studio internationally known.

He became a student at UCAB since his father works as a security guard at the institution. Being the son of an employee enabled him to receive the benefit of a discount in the tuition fees. He had ties with the university since he was very young.

He remembers that his first approach to UCAB was while studying at Nuestra Señora de Rosario School, when he participated in the Literature, Languages and Math Olympics in which he won in Language and received a diploma with the university logo.

While attending UCAB, he was one of the founding members of the Volunteer Group from the School of Social Communication called VOLCOS, UCAB.

It was basically Nathaly Varela who moved us into creating the group since she would often tell us “How is it possible that we are the School of Social Communication and we do not have a volunteer work group? Where is the social component in our mayor, that, being the largest school, we don´t have one? So once, while in a class of scenic arts, we just said: Let’s Do it!

I would have loved to have come up with the idea sooner, since we created it between the fifth and sixth semester, just as the hardest part of the career begins. The good thing is that we were able to find a replacement generation that kept on the volunteer work.

During his studies, Luis also worked as a tutor assisting Professor Aurimar Alonzo in the Film Analysis course. However, as time went by, he became more and more distant from his volunteer work, which he now recalls as a fatal mistake of his part.

As for the ABCU Foundation initiative Luis has stated:

It is an opportunity for young people as me for a better future. This is a real investment that the University is making and it would be very sad if it were lost, when so very few institutions in this country remain here and have the eagerness for fighting for the country.

Even though, the surrounding environment is negative, with many things against, UCAB maintains a positive spirit which is injected into students. I believe it is a beautiful way of contributing to this spirit and keeping it from getting lost.

Beyond the economic opportunities, the university opened for me many doors to good companies in Venezuela. To say that you graduated from the UCAB is a plus that no other university offers and for this I am very grateful to it.
